New Taper Lock dropout under testing

While over in Taiwan we managed to get a custom 26inch sample frame made featuring the new design of Taperlock dropouts. You might have seen the same system shown on Transworld BMX being tested by Stolen BMX. A lot of BMX companies have shown interest in this design and we are hoping that it will mean an end to chain tugs! Our rider Daryl Brown is currently putting it through its final testing so keep an eye out for it on 2010 frames!

How does it work? The dropout is basically wedge shaped and uses a special counter fitting washer in place of the usual flat type. This tightens against the dropout preventing the axle from being able to move forward. It's pretty neat and simple but check out the pics for a better idea of how it works.
